About 9 months ago I started working on another mobile project called Larry the Friendly Hairy Bear. This is an educational game for 4 to 6 year olds and it teaches children basic words. For more details about Larry please visit Chatterbox Art website.
The project is using Unity physics engine to add interactivity to characters and environments combined with custom animations. Larry is set in a puppet like Theatre using 3D characters that are modelled flat (to simulate cardboard cut outs). Not all the characters are interactive but trying to find the interactive elements will trigger different words that kids can learn.
Here is an early prototype that is using physics for tree rotation and Larry’s hand is moved with a Physics spring.
The test was on a PC in Unity4.6 (if I remembered correctly) but the target platform is mobile. I will try to post some videos with tests done on the mobile.
For the next few weeks I will try to put some posts out there about the development process and the tools that I’m using for delivering this project.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask and I’ll do my best to answer them.
Please let me know what you think and I would love to know if you have any suggestions.
