There are many ways to share code with your colleagues or collaborators (git, Dropbox, memory stick and so on) but Pastebin makes sharing, small chunks of code,  a breeze.

Pastebin is a website where you can store text for a certain period of time. They have accounts with different levels of accessibility and editorial rights. Please visit the Pastebin website for more details.

You have an option to choose your syntax from C#, C++, Java to JavaScript, JSON, and many others. The code is nicely displayed and easy to copy and paste into your preferred code/text editor.

Another nice feature is an expiration for your page, from 10 minutes to never. Very neat feature. You can share that page with your collaborators and after 1 hour(for example) it will be deleted. That’s great because you don’t leave this bits of code flying around the web forever.

You can make that post Private, Public or Unlisted depending on the type of security you need. Most of my code is pretty trivial so I tend to make mine Unlisted or public.

Very easy to use and all you have to do is share a link with you collaborators.

This is not the only tool that allows you to share code but I thought it’s a useful tool for a “quick and dirty” code sharing exercise. Very useful in game jams.

I hope this will help established or will be coders out there. Here’s the link to the website in case you missed it at the beginning of the post:

Happy coding, everyone!
